Purple Loosestrife produces tapering spikes of purple-red flowers from June to August and dark green willow-like leaves.
It is knows as an excellent gargle and wound cleanser and helps to rapidly stop wounds from bleeding.
This flower is typically found in bogey/wet locations such as along river banks and ponds, in ditches and wet marshes as damp conditions are needed to help grow. Purple loosestrife is pollinated by bees and butterflies as these are both long-tongued insects.
Grows tall to heights of around 1-1.5m (3-4′).
Sow between March to May
